Balloon Painting – Super EASY Toddler Craft Idea To Tackle Today!
Today’s project is called “Balloon Painting.” And just like it sounds, we are using balloons to create masterpieces.
I’m always looking for creative ways to involve lil man and let him show his creative side.
But lately, paint brushes & finger painting has gotten boring and quite frankly-over rated. There has been times he picks up the paint brush, makes one stroke to make me happy and walks away.
But when I gave him full control on this balloon painting project, I could not pull him away. It was something different that he could experiment with. Not to mention, the balloons made a funny sound when we squeeze them on our canvas. Overall it was a fun afternoon, trying something different.

The Simple Directions:
* Then comes the fun! Instruct your child to dip each balloon in the paint, then onto the canvas. The balloons will make a dot pattern on your canvas. For added fun, have the balloon colors match the paint, so you can turn it into a learning lesson. Green balloon gets dipped in green paint, then on the canvas.
* Have them repeat the process, until they get the design they want. {Balloons can be cleaned off with water/towel if you want to be able to use multiple colors, but not have them all run together}
Balloon Painting Craft
Supplies:
- Large Blank White Canvas - any size you like!
- Various Balloons
- Washable Craft Paint
- Small Paper Plate
Instructions:
- For your first step, blow up the balloons and tie them off so the air can't escape. I did three balloons & made them all a different size, giving them a different look/feel when dipped in the paint.
- Now squirt your paint on a paper plate. Also put down a protective sheet on your table if you don't want anything to get messed up.
- Then comes the fun! Instruct your child to dip each balloon in the paint, then onto the canvas. The balloons will make a dot pattern on your canvas. For added fun, have the balloon colors match the paint, so you can turn it into a learning lesson. Green balloon gets dipped in green paint, then on the canvas.
- Have them repeat the process, until they get the design they want. {Balloons can be cleaned off with water/towel if you want to be able to use multiple colors, but not have them all run together}
- As a special touch, I had little man add his handprint and I added the year in the corner. Our first handprint was a disaster (You can kinda see it in the last picture) so to make the second handprint stand out, I outlined it with a black sharpie.
- Once your child is done creating their masterpiece, let dry completely.
- Then display proudly and cherish for years to come!
