HO HO HO Keepsake Craft

This easy kids’ craft is perfect for Christmas! Just print out the free template, add your child’s handprints, and you’re done. This makes a great keepsake or gift for grandparents.

Craft Supplies:

  • “Ho Ho Ho” Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Red Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Holiday Stickers
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick or Tape Runner
  • Cotton Balls
  • Crayons, Coloring Pencils or Markers

Directions:

  • First grab the Santa saying keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now print out the provided ho ho ho file on a single sheet of white cardstock paper.
  • Next grab your red craft paint, as well as your foam paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt the craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Pick one of your child’s hands {left or right – doesn’t matter!}
  • Paint the palm and fingers of your child’s hand completely and press it down in the center of the printable, right after the first “H” in the Santa saying.
  • Make sure you wiggle each finger so the paint transfers really good to the paper.
  • Now carefully lift up your child’s hand from the printable and clean off the excess paint from their hand, with a baby wipe & a quick trip to the sink.
  • When the handprint you just made on the paper is dry enough, it’s time to start embellishing the remainder of the paper.
  • Go ahead and first color in the face of the Santa design in the printable.
  • Next up – cut out a small triangle hat from the red cardstock paper and glue it on top of Santa’s head in the printable.
  • Finish it off by cutting the ONE cotton ball in half and gluing down the two pieces to finish his hat.
  • At this point in time, you can add other embellishments around the ironic saying {like some holiday stickers} to give it that custom look.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful handprint Christmas HO HO HO keepsake piece!
  • BTW – you can also do this very craft with painted BABY FOOTPRINTS instead – hint hint! That would be a REALLY special gift for grandparents under the tree!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
