* Meet me, Stacey Gibbon. I’m the writer, content creator and editor behind the popular kids craft website, Glued To My Crafts. I have been developing and photographing for my website since early 2013. I’m so excited you are here today and joining me in this creative journey. Let’s be certified crafty superstars together!
* I’m a 30-something year old mother and proud Air Force wife. I have a HUGE passion for sharing ALL THINGS craft related and this little website is my outlet on spreading the art to everyone in the world.
* Fun fact – I’m German/American and grew up in Germany. You would never know by my valley girl voice and my over-use of “yawl” in my daily vocabulary.
* Currently we live near the Omaha, Nebraska area.
* My full time job is this very blog and I gladly wear the title of “That Crafty Girl.” With this career of mine, l like to be involved in things that allow me to “bless” others with the gift of creativity. Online AND physically. In the past I have taught various kid craft events at our military bases, been a room mom AND our family has also been actively involved in our son’s school’s PTA.
* Although I mainly focus on kid craft tutorials currently on our site, I do aspire to grow in my crafty adventure and do a little bit of everything. From paper crafts to pulling out the jigsaw – I want to master it all one day! I also am hoping to ramp up the gift ideas on our website as well!
* My husband (Joe) and I have been married for over 14 years now. He is currently active duty in the Air Force and we have lived at a total of five different bases now. Our goal is to get back to the mid-west area when he retires in a few years but for now, home is where the Air Force sends us!
* My favorite color changes every day and tends to go in line with the time of year. My husband says he can never keep up with me. I also dance between vintage and modern flair for style.
* My secret weapon to getting through the day? Coffee. LOTS OF IT. You will always find me with a cup in my hand. Give me a dark roast and a splash of milk to see me smile. You can actually make my day and buy me a coffee via this link if you like!
* My motto in life is that you can’t go wrong with glitter – like ever. It’s usually added to all my craft projects and handmade gift ideas that I share on this website. The more, the better! Am I right?! Because of my love of glitter, our floors and feet are always covered in it. I chalk it up as extra sparkle in our lives but my husband & son are not amused by it. Unfortunately for them, this is the package deal when it comes to living with me. The glitter will never go away. Sorry.
* Confession time. I’m guilty of wanting to drag out the Christmas decor {and crafts} before Thanksgiving even hits. THEN when the holiday actually comes up to celebrate, I’m completely sick of it. Everything has to go back in it’s place the day after. I don’t know why I annoy myself every year. You would think I would have learned my lesson by now. Nope. Thankfully my husband wrangles me in a bit and puts his foot down when I’m pulling out the bins to decorate. His rule is not until the turkey is completely gone.
* But on that note, this goes in line with me being a firm believer in making EVERY day and/or holiday a big deal in your home. Hence, why you will see TONS of crafts centered around each season we pass. Holidays weren’t a big deal in my home growing up but I want to change that mindset for my son. We love celebrating even the smallest holiday. It’s all about making those memories and just being together.
* Now a little about my crafty journey and our website. The name Glued To My Crafts was something I actually came up several years ago, while we were living in Turkey. At the time, the name came to me while I was selling handmade cardsĀ and jewelry to friends & family afar. Fast forward two years later when I was pregnant with our son, I decided to make a blog to share all my crafty adventures, so my friends and family could still support me in a small way. That’s when our DIY Sharpie Mug post went VIRAL on Buzzfeed, when they featured us in a Pinterest fail post. We were the ONLY one in the entire roundup to pass the “test” and get the stamp of approval. After that, everything changed for me and here we are today!
* From there and through tons of hard work & dedication, GTMC has grown leaps & bounds. We currently serve nearly half-a-million readers a month. I would like to think, we are the go-to website for easy kid craft ideas.
* Although I hope to keep our DIY website alive for many years to come, my real dream is to one day own my own craft studio and teach classes of all sorts, while my husband wants to have his own brew shop next door.
* I also hope to maybe have a published craft book or two under my belt soon. Until then, this little blog of mine is my creative outlet, where I really enjoy sharing all the crafty ideas in my head. Nothing makes me happier than inspiring some crafty inspiration in someone! It really does make my day to hear from my readers.
