Calling all creative kiddos! Let’s get crafty and make some whimsical popsicle stick ballerinas to brighten up your day.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Cupcake Liners
  • School Glue
  • Paint Pens {or markers}
  • optional materials – rhinestones, glitter, glitter glue

Directions:

  • First have children flatten/fold their cupcake liners in half and use a bit of glue to secure them to the center of their popsicle stick. This is the ballerina’s tutu skirt.
  • Repeat for each ballerina puppet you are making today.
  • Once the cupcake liners are down, grab your paint pens and draw on a face, hair and of course – ballet shoes onto the popsicle stick.
  • If desired, glue on a “hairbow” paper punch out to finish the glamorous look.
  • To finish off the cupcake liner and craft stick ballerina puppet, have children wrap/bend a single pipe cleaner a few times around the center of the popsicle sticks to resemble the ballerina’s arms.
  • At this point children can also add other embellishments {like scrapbook stickers, glitter, rhinestones} that they see fit to really make it their own.
  • Then display and/or play with proudly!
  • BTW – this craft would be great for Christmas as well! Pair it with the Nutcracker play or turn it into a popsicle stick ballerina ornament for the tree!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
