Popsicle Stick & Polka Dot Fish Craft for Summer

Beat the summer heat by making these cute and colorful fish crafts! Grab your popsicle sticks and get creative – it’s time to make the perfect ocean companions!

Craft Supplies:

To get started with this craft activity, gather the following materials (most of which you likely already have at home or in the classroom):

  • Regular Sized Popsicle Craft Sticks – 14 per fish craft
  • Wood or School Glue
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Craft Paint or Paint Dab Markers
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors

Pro Tip: Choose jumbo popsicle sticks for larger fish or regular sticks for smaller creations.

Directions:

  • For each fish you will need 14 craft sticks. On your work station, lay out 7 sticks next to each other, like you are making a fence.
  • Cover 3/4 of the way of your laid out craft sticks in glue.
  • Take the other seven popsicle sticks and lay them in the other direction, on top of the glue.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • When ready – decorate your fish anyway you like. I did a WHOLE BUNCH of polka dots with paint dabbers on mine. Feel free to change yours up!
  • Next up – glue on a wiggle eye and a “heart” paper cutout for the fishes lips.
  • Let everything dry before displaying your popsicle stick fish proudly for ALL to see!
