Popsicle Stick Owls {Kid Craft}

Wood Craft Stick Owl

It’s no secret that I love making and sharing kid friendly craft ideas with you all on my website {they have been my most popular posts to date!}

On Glued To My Crafts, I’ve shared quite a few children friendly crafts using tissue paper and paper plates but another favorite craft medium of mine is popsicle sticks. They are fairly inexpensive, easy to find in most stores {like Dollar Tree!} and are versatile when it comes to kid crafts.

Today’s blog post is titled Popsicle Stick Owls and it’s just a basic popsicle stick frame, decorated to look like an owl. It’s super easy to make and completely customizable when it comes to colors & how you decorate it. I used decorative leaves from Dollar Tree but you can of course change that out with craft feathers instead!

My craft stick owl tutorial is the perfect fall craft but honestly it can be made all year long. Take for example, you can change up the colors to reflect white/blue for a winter owl or red/pink for a Valentine’s Day owl. The possibilities are endless – which makes it whoo-tastic!

You can find ALL the details below, as well as a few picture examples to get you inspired!

Happy crafting, my dear friends and please don’t forget to share pictures of your popsicle stick and leaf decorated owls with me on my Facebook page! It seriously makes my day to see these tutorials come to life! #gluedtomycrafts

Popsicle Stick Owls {Kid Craft} Popsicle Stick Owls - Kid Craft Idea

Looking for an easy craft idea that kids will love? Check out these adorable popsicle stick owls! We added leaves so they are perfect for fall!

Craft Supplies:

  • Regular Sized Popsicle Sticks – 12 per owl craft
  • School Glue
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Craft Scissors
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Decorative Plastic Leaves

Directions:

  • First is the frame of your owl. Basically you are building/gluing together a fence. I did 10 next to each other and two going across, to make the base of the craft.
  • Let the glue dry completely before moving on to the next step.
  • Squirt some craft paint on a paper plate.
  • Flip over the popsicle stick frame and have your child paint the front of it.
  • Let the paint dry completely.
  • Next cut out some embellishments for your owl {nose and eyes} and glue them onto the frame.
  • Glue on decorative leaves to each side of the painted popsicle stick shape, to finish it all off!
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit and allow it to dry completely.
  • Then display your popsicle stick owl proudly for ALL to see! You can prop it against something as is or hot glue magnets to the back to display on the fridge.
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures to share with us on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
