Owl Handprint Keepsake Craft Idea
Hi friends! With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I figured I would share another SIMPLE kid craft idea that can be easily framed and turned into a gift on the fly.
This Handprint Owl Keepsake tutorial is super easy to make within minutes and it’s relatively inexpensive too. If you have a printer in your home – you are well on your way to pulling this together and creating a great keepsake to treasure for years to come {plus the finished piece fits nicely in a scrapbook too!}
In this post, I’ve included a FREE gender-neutral owl printable template, so all you need to do is print the file, grab some paint and have your children add their handprints to complete the craft. It’s so simple, you have NO excuse NOT to do it!

PAIR YOUR OWL KEEPSAKE IDEA WITH —> Tissue Paper & Paper Plate Owl
Craft Supplies:
- Free Blank Blue Owl Template Printable {GRAB THE OWL TEMPLATE ON BOX.COM}
- White Cardstock Paper
- Color Printer
- Washable, Craft Paint {pick a theme, a favorite color – whatever your heart desires!}
- Small Paper Plate
- Foam Paint Brush
- Baby Wipes
- optional materials for this craft – glitter, stickers, markers etc.

Directions:
- First print out the free owl template printable on white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per craft.
- Squirt some craft paint on a paper plate.
- Using the foam paint brush, paint one of your child’s hands and press it on the printable, next to the owl’s body.
- Repeat for the other hand/other side.
- Use baby wipes to remove excess paint from the hand and make a trip to the kitchen sink for the rest.
- Once done adding the handprints, set aside the decorated printable to let it dry completely.
- If desired, add other embellishments you see fit.
- Then display/gift proudly!
