These turkey ballerinas are so easy to make with craft sticks, cupcake liners and a bit of googly-eyes. They’re perfect for pretend play!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wavy Popsicle Sticks
  • Large Cupcake Liners
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Feather Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Pipe Cleaners

Directions:

  • First have children decorate their ONE craft stick however they like. They will want to make a turkey face, ballerina slippers on the bottom and the leotard part of the tutu in the center, with the Sharpie markers. Use our pictures for an example.
  • When done decorating, set it aside till later.
  • Next up – grab the printed craft feather printable and your choice of coloring medium.
  • Color in the feathers however you like and then trim them out with scissors when done.
  • Now get the glue gun hot and ready!
  • Go ahead and flatten/fold your ONE cupcake liner in half and glue it to the center of the decorated craft stick. This is the turkey ballerina’s tutu.
  • Follow that up by bending and gluing down the pipe cleaner “arms” to the back of the decorated piece.
  • Finally, glue the paper feather cutouts on top of the pipe cleaner/to the back of the decorated piece as well.
  • To finish the Craft Stick Turkey Ballerina, have children add other embellishments that they see fit to really make it their own.
  • Then display/play with your creations proudly!

Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
