Handprint Antler & Popsicle Stick Reindeer

Hi my creative friends! If you are still looking for an easy Christmas themed kid craft idea to do with your child during this festive holiday season – today’s craft stick reindeer with handprint antlers tutorial is sure to inspire!

This creative and super cute craft stick reindeer idea is not only really easy and great for all children of ages – it’s also really inexpensive too! {plus it has paper handprint cutouts incorporated to the back for the antlers, which is probably my favorite element of them all!}

Kids will love making their own red nosed reindeer friend from craft sticks, with our easy step by step how-to tutorial and you will LOVE displaying the end result as well.

So no more reindeer games – go grab the craft supplies, find all the steps below and make your own Rudolph inspired craft with your child today! Then take a moment to make it even more special by adding some ribbon to the back to hang it on the tree or prop it as is on your fire mantle as instant holiday decor! Whatever you decide to do with it, I hope you loved the process & end result!

Popsicle Stick Reindeer

Follow our step-by-step tutorial to make this adorable Christmas craft with your kids!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 9 per craft
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • School Glue
  • Kid Friendly Scissors
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pencil, Pen or Chalk

Directions:

  • First assemble the base of reindeer. Glue your NINE popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {seven next to each other and two across.}
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • When the popsicle stick shape is dry enough, go ahead and grab your paper plate, craft paint and paint brush.
  • Next have your child paint the front of the popsicle stick fence completely brown.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now grab all your cardstock paper sheets, the pencil and craft scissors.
  • Starting with the brown cardstock, trace both of your child’s hands on the paper.
  • Trim out the traced designs to make a pair of antlers.
  • Set those aside.
  • Now cut out a large nose from the red cardstock paper.
  • To finish off the handprint and wood reindeer craft, glue on the paper embellishments to the painted popsicle stick shape, as well as anything other embellishment.
  • Then let it all dry completely, before displaying proudly.
  • If you like, add some ribbon to the back so you can easily turn it into an ornament.
