This Christmas, why not make a special craft with your kids that will remind them of the holidays for years to come?

This footprint reindeer is easy enough for even the littlest ones to help make and looks so adorable!

Plus, it can be sent as a last-minute Christmas card to grandparents or other loved ones who are far away.

Footprint Reindeer Keepsake Card

Looking for a quick and easy Christmas craft to do with your kids? This painted footprint reindeer is perfect! It can be made on a spur-of-the-moment, and it’s sure to bring a smile to grandparents’ faces this holiday season.

Today’s Christmas themed footprint reindeer kid craft tutorial was actually a spur-of-the-moment idea and I’m so glad I took the time to create it with my son.

Since we are military, we live pretty far away from both our families, so footprint crafts like today’s idea are extra special to send to the grandparents {especially this time of year!} With kids growing so fast, it’s just a great way to remember those once tiny feet and keep loved ones connected at the same time!

So what are you waiting for? Grab your art project supplies and set up shop to make this Footprint Reindeer Card Keepsake to send to your child’s grandparents today! Don’t forget to help them write a special message inside and of course – make one for yourself too & throw it in a scrapbook for safe keeping!

Happy crafting this holiday season, my friends!!! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your painted reindeer footprint card on our Facebook page, to admire! #gluedtomycrafts

Footprint Reindeer Keepsake Card

Today’s painted footprint reindeer kid craft tutorial can be made on a spur-of-the-moment and sent to grandparents far away this Christmas!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Brown/Black Sharpie Marker
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Glue Stick or School Glue
  • Large Glue Dots
  • Large Red Craft Button
  • Baby Wipes
  • Small Paper Plate

Directions:

  • First pick a foot. Any foot!
  • Squirt some brown craft paint on your paper plate.
  • Simply paint the bottom of your child’s foot completely brown and press it down on the white cardstock.
  • Clean off excess paint from their foot with a baby wipe and a quick trip to the tub.
  • Set aside their painted footprint paper piece, to let it dry completely.
  • Then, when dry enough, it’s time to give it the look of a reindeer! Grab the remaining supplies and draw on some antlers & ears with the brown Sharpie, then glue on some white cardstock eyes and the iconic red nose.
  • Now trim out the front of the card and glue to a piece of cardstock, that is folded in half.
  • To finish the footprint reindeer themed handmade card, you can add scrapbook stickers or other embellishments to give it a personalized look {or go for a more simple look like we did!}
  • Then add a special message inside and slip in an envelope for easy mailing!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures before you do the last step, to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
