Handprint Christmas Tree Gnome - Kid Craft

Handprint Christmas Tree Gnome

This is a great kid craft to do with your children during the holidays! It’s easy, fun, and they will love seeing their handprint as a gnome beard. Plus, it makes for a sweet keepsake that you can hang up in your home during Christmas time.

Craft Supplies:

  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Kraft Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • Patterned Scrapbook Paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Craft Scissors
  • Glue Stick or Tape Runner Adhesive
  • Small Rhinestone Stickers

Directions:

  • First things first – set aside a single sheet of white cardstock. This will be the base of your craft and should be left untouched till later.
  • Now grab your green cardstock and pencil.
  • Pick a hand and have children lay it flat on the green paper.
  • Trace around your child’s hand with the pencil.
  • When done tracing, lift up their hand and trim out the traced design on the paper, with your paper scissors. This will be the Christmas tree beard for the gnome.
  • Set it aside.
  • Now grab your patterned scrapbook paper.
  • Cut out a large triangle hat for the gnome.
  • Grab the kraft colored cardstock.
  • Cut out a rectangle “tree stump” for his body, as well as an oval shaped nose.
  • Out of the yellow cardstock, cut out a simple star shape.
  • Finally – cut out two half circle “shoes” for your gnome, from the dark brown colored cardstock.
  • Now you are ready to assemble it all together.
  • Start off my gluing down the tree stump paper piece, to the bottom of the white cardstock.
  • Go ahead and also glue down his shoes on the tree stump.
  • Then glue down the handprint tree {finger tips going downward} on the tree stump.
  • Follow that up by gluing down the paper hat, then the nose and finally the tree topper on top of everything.
  • To finish off your Paper Christmas Gnome Keepsake, add your rhinestone “ornaments” all over the green handprint to give it that holiday tree feel.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your new paper holiday gnome friend proudly for ALL to see!!
