Making something special with loved ones is almost as cozy as the feeling of a warm hug! Create a lasting memory with your little ones by making this adorable “Cold Hands, Warm Heart” handprint craft!

Cold Hands, Warm Heart Handprint Craft

Handprint Cold Hands, Warm Heart Keepsake

In our newest post today, I’ve included TWO printables that you are free to use, if you {or if you don’t – run with your own idea! You honestly won’t hurt my feelings!}

One printable is the large red heart, which is the center of the craft and the other, is the two mitten cutouts. Either/or can be substituted out if you like, especially if you have much older kids & the printables happen to be too small for your use.

To start the cold hands, warm heart craft idea, just grab the FREEBIE files below and print them out on your own printer, from the comfort of your home. From there, you and your child are going to do some handprints, cutting and gluing to make some custom mittens around a sweet sentiment! Perfect for winter!

You can pretty much add anything to make it your own, so please don’t feel limit by today’s winter craft tutorial or the materials I used for my photos. I just really want to jump-start that creativity within you and your child today, so don’t let it be contained by us!

I’ll let you get to it now so – happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures with us, on our Facebook page, as well! #gluedtomycrafts

Cold Hands, Warm Heart Handprint Craft

An easy craft for kids to help them think of ways they can be kind to others. Enjoy the free printable from us listed below!

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Printables – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Craft Paint
  • Large, Foam Paint Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First grab the FREE heart and mitten printables ABOVE. Print them both, in color on white cardstock. You need one print of each, per craft {or skip our prints and make your own by hand!}
  • We are going to work on the mittens printable and handprints first. Grab your craft paint, paper plate, paint brush and mittens printable.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Working with one hand at a time, paint your child’s hand completely and press it, on each mitten in the printable.
  • Clean off your child’s hand with baby wipes and send them for a trip to the sink.
  • Next is trimming out the handprint mittens you just made. Use scissors to do that.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Now use your craft foam or colored cardstock to make “rectangular cuffs” for your mittens.
  • Go ahead attach those to the cutouts to your craft.
  • Finally, if desired, cut out the heart from the other printable {or leave it attached, in place, like we did}
  • Next take your mitten cutouts and staple them to the heart, to make it look like the mittens are holding it in place.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit, as well as having children sign the bottom, along with their age.
  • Then display/gift away proudly!
  • Don’t forget to share pictures with us! #gluedtomycrafts

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
