When the chill of winter sets in and snow begins to blanket the ground, it’s the perfect time to gather indoors and engage in creative festivities. Crafting is a wonderful way to celebrate the snowy season, and handmade cards add a warm, personal touch.

Today, we’re introducing a super fun, easy, and affordable craft idea fit for kids and adults alike: potato-stamped snowman cards! Whether you’re wishing loved ones happy holidays, simply saying hello, or keeping little hands busy, this DIY project is a delightful way to make your winter moments magical.

This step-by-step guide will show you everything you need to know to craft adorable snowman cards using one surprising ingredient you already have in your kitchen – potatoes. So on that note, grab your paint, some blank cards, and your winter imagination and let’s get started!

Potato Stamped Snowmen Cards

These darling potato stamped snowman cards are perfect for a winter-themed kids craft! They’re simple to make and tons of fun.

Craft Supplies:

Before we begin, gather the following materials to ensure a smooth crafting process. Many of these items are likely already in your house:

  • Cardstock Paper
  • Glue Stick
  • Scissors
  • 1 – Raw Potato
  • Knife – adult supervision ALWAYS!
  • White Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Black Marker
  • Embellishments

With materials in hand, it’s time to get crafting!

Directions:

  • First things first – take a medium-to-large potato and wash it thoroughly. Cut it in half to reveal two flat surfaces. You will only need need one half for this craft but no worries – because I have some other ideas on my blog for the other half, you can craft up!
  • Lay down paper towels or newspapers to protect your table. Gather all your supplies and position them within easy reach.
  • Now grab your pre-folded cardstock card, craft paint and small paper plate.
  • Squirt a small amount of white craft paint on the small paper plate.
  • Have children dip one half of the potato into the white paint {smear it around} then stamp it on the front of the card.
  • To finish off the Potato Stamped Snowman Card, cut out a hat, nose and scarf from your remaining cardstock paper sheets.
  • Use the glue stick to adhere those in place on the stamped design.
  • If desired, use the Sharpie marker to write a message such as “warm wishes” on the front of your card.
  • Then set it all aside to let it dry completely, before displaying and/or giving away proudly!
