Snowman Playdough Recipe For Winter Fun
Hi friends! I’m so excited you landed on today’s DIY Snowman Playdough recipe tutorial! I’ve been on a “snowman” kick lately, so expect TONS of snowman crafts and activities in the next few days on Glued To My Crafts.
I guess the mountain of snow outside our window has inspired my blog posts lately. I’m taking this as a positive out of being stuck in the house for what seems like days 😉
Anyways… today I’m starting with this homemade snowman playdough activity. This recipe is actually a “no cook” way and it is very easy to pull together in a short few minutes. I’ve done/shared the stove top ones before on our website, but I’ve found that this no cook method is so much easier and what I would actually recommend the most!
Plus the supplies are simple and if you have food coloring on hand – you can change up the colors too. Although this recipe without any added color is great for snowmen building!
Please note that this snowman themed play dough is NOT intended to be edible. But if you omit the glitter – it won’t hurt if they do nibble a piece. Although – I wouldn’t recommend this playdough does taste horrible! {And I mean YUCK!}
Now keep scrolling for the full how-to tutorial, so you can build some snowmen with your child today! Happy crafting, my dear friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your snowman made out of playdough, on our Facebook page so we can admire it from a far! I can’t wait to hear what you think of our recipe! #gluedtomycrafts

Snowman Playdough
Craft Supplies:
- 2 cups white flour
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1/2 cup salt
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Glitter {I used about 2 tablespoons – add more/less as you feel like}
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl – combine your flour, salt, cream of tartar, glitter and oil.
- Carefully stir in your hot water to the mixture. {Should ONLY be done by adults}
- Start stirring with a cooking spoon until the dough starts getting sticky/cools down a bit.
- Once cool enough to handle – knead until it’s a smooth playdough consistency. Then play!
- If your dough is too sticky, add some more flour and knead through. Be sure to store playdough in air tight container between plays to save for future use.

To make a snowmen out of our playdough with my little man, I pulled out various shaped buttons and some paper straws. Then we rolled the dough into balls and stacked them up. It was great snowman building without the cold and the mess!
Stay tuned for more snowman crafts in the coming days! And as always – happy crafting, my friends!!! #gluedtomycrafts
