Paper Plate Valentine Hot Air Balloon - Kid Craft

Looking for a simple and fun Valentine’s Day craft idea for kids? This paper plate hot air balloon is perfect!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate – 1 per craft
  • Tissue Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Heart Stickers
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First cut your tissue paper into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills}
  • Take your paper plate and put a good amount of glue all over the remainder paper plate piece.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the paper plate piece is completely covered.
  • While they are working on that, cut out the other hot air balloon features from the cardstock. I did a basket with two strips for the rope that ties the basket to the balloon.
  • To finish off the Valentine Hot Air Balloon kid craft – staple/glue the cardstock pieces in their designated spots on the paper plate {at this point you can add your child’s picture like I did in this particular craft}
  • Go ahead and also cover the paper plate portion in heart stickers to really tie the theme together.
  • Then display your Valentine’s Day paper plate hot air balloon proudly! {or add other embellishments to really make it your own before you do!}

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
