Hot Air Balloon Craft Idea

Inspired by our Pom Pom Painted Pineapple post from the other day – today I present to YOU our Pom Pom Painted Hot Air Balloon kid craft tutorial!

To complete this fun “high in the sky” paper hot air balloon craft idea, all  you need to do is download the free provided file found below {yay for that!} print it out on thick cardstock paper, grab a few other materials and get straight to work with your child.

It’s super easy, not super messy and absolutely perfect for some indoor crafty fun. I’ve set up the basic frame work – it’s your job to get the creative juices flowing in your home today!

Pom Pom Painted Hot Air Balloon - Kid Craft

Learn how to make this adorable pom pom hot air balloon craft with your kids! This simple craft is perfect for kids of all ages.

Craft Supplies:

  • Hot Air Balloon Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Paint
  • Large Pom Pom
  • Wooden Clothespin
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Loose Craft Glitter

Directions:

  • First, if you haven’t already, go ahead and download the FREE HOT AIR BALLOON TEMPLATE listed in the supply list above.
  • Print it out on your printer, on thick white cardstock. Print one hot air balloon prints per craft you want to make.
  • For the pom pom paint brush – pinch open the clothespin and insert the pom pom. Let it close on the pom pom.
  • Place your shades of craft paint on a small paper plate.
  • Have your child dip their pom pom paintbrush into the various colors of paint, then on the inside of the hot air balloon cutout.
  • Repeat until the balloon design is completely covered in polka dots.
  • Once done with the above step, while the paint is still wet, sprinkle a SMALL amount of loose craft glitter on top to give the craft some texture.
  • Then step aside your piece to let it dry completely before displaying.
  • Please sure to discard your paint covered pom pom and rinse off the clothespin with water so you can save it for next time.
  • If desired – use scissors to cut out the decorated hot air balloon shape and display it that way!
