Paint Splat Hot Air Balloon Craft Idea

Paint Splatter Hot Air Balloon Craft

Did you know that my paint splat ideas are some of the MOST visited tutorials on our site? YUP! I think it’s because these types of paint marble tutorials are super easy to recreate, even for the littlest crafters in the home.

Plus {not to toot my own horn} several of these abstract paint marbled craft ideas are first-seen-here and designed completely by me, to be shared right here on the Glued To My Crafts website. I say it over and over again, I really do strive to make {and share} outside the traditional kids craft tutorials you find on the internet these days. That’s why I highly encourage you to follow us on Pinterest to stay up to date on what I come up with next!

Anyways – back to today’s paper hot air balloon craft tutorial. This is another first-seen-here idea and we are creating unique, multi-colored hot air balloons with the paint splat technique I absolutely love so much!

To recreate this paint splat hot air balloon on paper, all I did was take my free hot air balloon printable {that you will find below} and trusty Tulip brand puffy paint to make the marbled design of the balloon stand out on my cardstock paper.

If this is something you would like to recreate with your little crafter today, you can check out the full tutorial below, along with the list of supplies to make it happen. My tip to making this craft EXTRA PERFECT is investing in the Tulip brand puffy paint. It’s what makes the vibrant colors really pop from the paper AND you get a real cool finished texture afterwards on your hot air balloon as well!

Well enough chit chat from me – I’ll let you get to it! Find all the details below so you can recreate one of your own today! Then snap a few pictures of what you “design” so you can share it on our Facebook page. Remember – no two pieces will be alike so I can’t wait to see how your paint splat hot air balloon turns out!

Paint Splat Hot Air Balloon Craft Idea

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Blank Hot Air Balloon Template {grab it on box.com}
  • Color Printer
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Tulip Puffy Paint {or any craft paint in a squirt bottle}
  • optional materials – loose craft glitter, basic paper craft scissors

Check out our AMAZON storefront for supplies!

Directions:

  • First print out the free hot air balloon template. You will want ONE printable per craft.
  • Go ahead and fold your piece in half, with the hot air balloon design inside.
  • Unfold and squirt some paint on one side of the circular part of the hot air balloon {I like the Tulip Puffy Paint for this particular step since it’s in a nice controlled squirt bottle} Be sure to keep the paint inside the design of the balloon half.
  • Once the paint is down, go ahead and fold/squish your piece of paper together again.
  • Be sure to rub your hand all over the folded piece, so the paint will cover your design nicely.
  • Now carefully unfold your piece to reveal your design.
  • To finish the Marbled Hot Air Balloon art project – simply sprinkle some loose craft glitter on top of the wet puffy paint.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly.
  • If you like – you can also cut out the finished hot air balloon design and display it that way. This step would be great if you are adding these to a large classroom bulletin board. This way you say some space and have enough room for the entire class 🙂
