A can of shave foam, school glue, a box of assorted food coloring, paint sponges, and two white bowls are arranged on a teal surface—perfect supplies for homemade puffy paint. The text GluedToMyCraftsBlog.com is at the bottom.

Your kids will love this cute cupcake craft idea using puffy paint for the frosting. It’s a great art project that is simple and easy to do!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Shaving Cream
  • White School Glue
  • Food Coloring
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Bowl
  • Cupcake Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper

Directions:

  • First download and print the cupcake template printable {or draw your own design on some cardstock} You only need ONE printable per craft.
  • In a small bowl, mix equal parts of shaving cream with white school glue. This will create a sticky frosting consistency.
  • Next, add your food coloring to get the desired “cupcake frosting” color. I added a few drops of red & blue to get a pink/purple color. Please keep in mind, that once the frosting dries, it will be a darker shade.
  • Once you have the consistency/color you like – have your child use a paint brush to fill in the cupcake part with the “frosting.”
  • To finish your puffy paint cupcake craft, sprinkle some glitter on top of the glue mixture and set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Once completely dry, add other embellishments like a button for a cherry on top or a long rectangle paper piece for a birthday candle.
  • Then display proudly!
