Our latest post is a recipe for success! With Mother’s Day coming up quickly and the attention often being only on the “moms” that day, I’m switching it up and including grandmas in the mix!
With my Thumbprint Sprinkles – Grandmas Are Like Moms With Extra Frosting kid craft tutorial, your child is going to have a one-of-a-kind paper piece to give to grandma on the BIG day. If you have a printer in your home and the capability of downloading our FREE file listed below, you are well on your way to pulling it together within minutes.
Just download, print and add colorful “thumbprint” sprinkles in the provided blank “frosting” space, to complete the cupcake. That’s it! Super easy!!!

Craft Supplies:
- Free Grandma Cupcake Printable
- 8.5×11″ White Cardstock Paper
- Washable Ink Pads
- Baby Wipes
- Marker/Pen/Pencil
- optional materials – Stickers, Glitter Glue, Rhinestones etc.
Directions:
- First print out, in color, the free Grandmas Are Like Moms Printable on a single sheet of white cardstock. You only need ONE print per craft. Feel free to print as many as you like but please only use our file for personal use or in a classroom setting.
- Next grab your various colors of ink pads. Press your thumb {or any other finger} on the ink pad, then on the frosting area in the cupcake printable.
- Repeat to make several “sprinkles” all over the cupcake’s frosting. Add as many or as little, as you like!
- Clean off your fingers with a baby wipe.
- To finish off the Thumbprint Extra Frosting and Sprinkles craft, write your name in the provided space on the printable.
- Go ahead and add other embellishments like stickers, glitter – whatever the heart desires, to make it one-of-a-kind!
- Then gift away proudly to the lucky receiver!
Customize It:
- Maybe thumbprints or fingerprints are not your child’s thing? Have them decorate our printable with some homemade puffy paint “frosting” and glitter OR just have them color in the free printable, however they like. Please feel free to expand on our idea!
- Here’s another idea for this crafty piece – Grab some large construction paper and turn your child’s cupcake print into a card by simply gluing it to a folded card front. Then pair it with some baking supplies or maybe a nice gift card to a local bakery, to expand on the theme!
