Valentine’s Day Bear Craft

It’s MY mission to wow my crafty readers this Valentine’s Day season, with today’s craft stick pink valentine bear tutorial!

Just like all my crazy ideas that come to life on our website, this one started from a basic popsicle stick shape, that as of late, I have really enjoyed building off of. You might recognize the same rectangle body shape concept from our raccoon, fox and most recently – penguin posts. For me, if you can glue together a basic rectangle shape from popsicle sticks, you can make our crafty ideas come to life within minutes!

Now what are you waiting for?! You can find all the crafty details below and recreate it with your child today. I highly encourage you to think outside the box while you are recreating your own and maybe change up what your valentine bear is “holding” in their paws. You could easily place a small flat candy piece in the center or maybe even a small note for someone to read. So many possibilities on this one! I hope you run with it and maybe are encouraged to even host a small puppet show afterwards. The choice is yours! I just we inspired whatever that craft plan is!

Just one last note – I highly suggest this craft for the older children in your home since a glue gun is involved. Other than that – this tutorial is super easy, just like ALL the tutorials you can find on Glued To My Crafts right now!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks – 2 per craft
  • Mini Clothespins – 2 per craft
  • Low Temp Glue Gun
  • Pink Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Craft Foam Hearts

  • Basic Paper Scissors
  • Black Sharpie Marker

Directions:

  • First get the glue gun hot and ready!
  • Assemble the base of your bear friend by gluing THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and TWO mini popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {3 next to each other and the mini popsicle sticks across.}
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each valentine bear friend you want to make today.
  • When dry enough, go ahead and squirt some pink craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Take the foam paint brush and paint your newly made popsicle stick shape completely.
  • Go ahead and also paint your TWO mini clothespins with the craft paint, as well.
  • Set all the painted pieces aside.
  • Now grab all your sheets of cardstock paper and craft scissors.
  • Cut out a large circular head, ears, mouth, paws etc. for your valentine bear.
  • Use the sharpie marker to draw on details.

  • This next step is CRUCIAL. Take your TWO painted mini clothespins and pinch them around the heart shape, to give the look like it’s hands/arms are holding it.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Heart Holding Bear craft, hot glue the combined piece you just made, to the center of the painted popsicle stick shape.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit {maybe a small bow or a little bit of glitter!}
