For us, this year’s Father’s Day means more than it ever has in the last two years. As you guys already know, my husband is currently deployed. There is a HUGE ocean between us so I wanted to send him something that was creative & memorable. And of course I had to include my son in the entire creating process.
I also had to take in consideration that whatever we made, had to be mailed in a box. It had to be something durable & practically unbreakable.
So that is how this “I’m Hooked On Daddy” Handprint Fish Father’s Day canvas gift came to life. Find all the details and supply list below. Hopefully you are inspired to make one with your child today, as well!

PAIR YOUR HOOKED ON DADDY CANVAS WITH —> Kisses For Daddy – Handprint Card Idea
Hooked On Daddy Craft Supplies:
* Various Craft Paints in blue/red/green/orange/black colors
* Paper Plate
* Craft Paint Brushes
* Small ABC Stickers
* Baby Wipes
Directions:
* And here comes the fun part! Your child’s hand-print will be turned into the fish. Because this is a “one shot” type thing, explain to your child what they need to do & do a few test runs on plain paper. Also make sure you have an idea of where you want your fish to be.
* Once you are sure, just paint your child’s hand with the orange paint and press down on the canvas. Grab a baby wipe and wipe their hands clean.
* Now you are ready to give the fish life. Using the red paint, I painted a heart for the lips on our fish. I also gave it the power to see, by drawing a green dot for the eye.
* Then using my black paint, I painted a hook near the fish’s mouth. Let dry completely before adding stickers.
* The phrase we added to our canvas was “I’m Hooked on Daddy.” But you could also use something like “You are a great catch!” Or “I “fish” you a Happy Father’s Day!”
* Don’t forget to add your child’s name & year in the corner of the canvas {or on the back} so you can remember when it was created.
* And you are done. If you want to make sure the stickers don’t come off, paint some Modge Podge over the entire canvas to seal everything in.
* Then let it all dry completely and get ready to WOW the lucky receiver!

I’m so glad you love it Donna! That seriously makes my crafty heart so happy 🙂
Unfortunately, this tutorial post/gift we made my husband was made back in 2013. I honestly couldn’t tell you where the stickers are from. I personally think Hobby Lobby has the best selection for letter stickers but Michaels is great as well. Good luck and have a great day. Thank you for stopping by!
