Santa Moon Craft Idea For Kids

Use a paper plate and a few other materials to recreate these adorable Santa crescent moon crafts! Kids will love making this cute craft, which can be displayed all year round. This is an easy DIY kit that will give your kids something fun to do over the holidays.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Scissors
  • Skin Tone Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Santa Hat Printable – on our landing page
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Stapler
  • White Cotton Balls
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • School Glue

Directions:

  • First things first – print off the FREE Santa hat printable listed above in the supply list. I highly suggest printing it out on red cardstock paper but you can of course use white as an alternative and have kids color in the hat design instead.
  • Next cut the printed shape from the paper. If using red cardstock paper, before you discard the excess, be sure to cut out Santa’s nose real quick.
  • Now glue some cotton balls on the rim of the cutout, as well as one cotton ball on the tip.
  • When done gluing, set aside the decorated hat piece till later.
  • Up next – the paper plate moon. Grab the plate, along with your scissors.
  • Cut the paper plate to look like a half moon shape.
  • Discard the excess paper plate piece.
  • Paint your paper plate shape with your craft paint.
  • To finish off the paper plate witch moon craft, simply staple the hat shape from earlier, to the painted paper plate.
  • Follow by up by gluing on his cotton ball “beard” on the paper plate.
  • The last step is to add on the facial features – like the wiggle eyes, a small oval nose etc.
  • And that’s it! You can either add some more elements {like some stickers or glitter glue} or go straight to displaying it proudly for ALL to see!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
