Paper Plate Scarecrow House Craft Idea

Get your creative energy flowing! Make a fun paper plate scarecrow house with your family today and get crafty together!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Scarecrow Hat Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Yellow Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Markers/Crayons
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Stapler
  • Pumpkin/Scarecrow Stickers

Directions:

  • First things first – cut off a small section of your large paper plate to make the bottom of the scarecrow house flat.
  • Discard the small sliver you just cut off.
  • Next up – paint the paper plate piece completely yellow {or any color you like!}
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now print out the FREE hat roof template listed above. You only need to print one per scarecrow craft.
  • Use markers or crayons to color in the scarecrow hat however you like.
  • When done coloring it, use scissors to trim out the hat design.
  • Before you discard the remaining white cardstock paper {from the printable} pick one of the corners to cut out TWO small circle windows for the house.
  • At this point in time you should also cut out a simple door and chimney shape from the brown cardstock paper.
  • Once the painted paper plate is dry and you have everything cut out/colored in, it’s time to start assembling your scarecrow fairy house! Start by stapling on the hat shape to the paper plate piece {just like a roof.}
  • Follow that up by gluing/stapling the other embellishments in place as well.
  • Finally – the embellishments! Go ahead and add anything else {like pumpkin and scarecrow stickers} for that custom look, before displaying proudly!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
