Paper Bag Scarecrow Craft

Craft a scarecrow using a paper bag, paint, and your creative imagination.

Craft Supplies:

  • Scarecrow Hat Printable – on our landing page
  • Large, Brown Paper Bag
  • Shredded Paper
  • School Glue
  • Stapler
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Craft Scissors
  • Colored Cardstock
  • Washable Markers

Directions:

  • First things first – if you haven’t already, go ahead and print out the scarecrow hat printable that is listed above. You can print it on colored paper {like I did} or do white & have children color in their design however they like.
  • Once you have the printable printed, trim out the hat design and discard excess paper.
  • Next up – stuff your brown paper bag with a handful of shredded paper, until it stands up nicely and looks really full.
  • Set it aside till later.
  • Out of the remaining cardstock paper, cut out strips for his hairs and a triangle nose.
  • Now we are ready to assemble! Take your hat cutout and staple it to the stuffed paper bag to close it up.
  • To finish off the lunch sack craft – draw/glue on the facial features to the front of the stuffed paper bag to give it life.
  • Then display your finished scarecrow piece proudly for ALL to see!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
