I know, I know – it’s probably too early to start thinking about Thanksgiving crafts BUT my goal is to wrap up the Halloween posts on the blog by next week and I just couldn’t WAIT to share this Native American themed kid craft with you all today!
As you may know, a teepee is a type of tent that was used by the Native Americans. These types of tents stood tall, were supported by long tree limbs and were also covered in animal skin to protect the people inside from the elements of nature and animals.
Although today’s craft project is very small scale to the real thing – it’s still super fun! Using just some simple supplies like wooden craft sticks, glitter glue and tan cardstock – you too can pull these simple Popsicle Stick TeePees together in no time!
Best part? The customization is pretty much endless and you can throw in some learning lessons by reading some books centered around the Native Americans.
Happy crafting, my friends!!! #gluedtomycrafts
Popsicle Stick TeePee Supplies:
* Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {3 per teepee craft}
* School Glue
* Kraft/Tan Colored Cardstock
* Glitter Glue
* Basic Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
Directions:
* First grab three popsicle sticks {for each teepee design} and glue them together to look like a triangle. Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat.
* While those are drying, grab your tan cardstock and cut out some triangular designs to go on the front of your teepee {you will want it to be a little smaller than the popsicle stick design itself} Now glue those cardstock pieces to the popsicle stick shape.
* To finish off the Popsicle Stick TeePee – have children decorate the fronts however they like. We did designs with glitter glue but you are more than welcome to use whatever you like. Once done, set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
