Get your little ones in on the Thanksgiving prep this year! Have fun making adorable handprint paper plate turkeys with them, perfect for decorating your home or giving as gifts.
Craft Supplies:
- Large Paper Plate
- Brown Craft Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Scissors
- School Glue
- Â Stapler
- Cardstock or Scrapbook Paper
- Pen/Pencil
Directions:
- First things first. Grab your pencil scissors and construction paper.
- Use the pencil to trace your child’s hand, several times, on the construction paper. I would say 3-5 handprints is perfect. Remember it doesn’t have to be perfect either! {I had to tell myself that repeatedly because my son would not hold still at all while we crafted.}
- Once done tracing, go ahead and trim out each paper handprint with your scissors.
- While you are working on that step, have your child paint their paper plate completely brown. Simply squirt some paint in the center of the paint and instruct them to move it around with the foam paint brush.
- When they are done painting, set aside the paper plate to let it dry completely.
- With the remaining cardstock, cut out some eyes, a beak, waddle – whatever you want for the turkey to bring him to life.
- Once it’s dry, start adding your turkey’s embellishments to the paper plate. Grab your stapler and school glue.
- Start off by stapling the paper handprint cutouts to the back of the plate to make them look like feathers.
- Then use school glue to add a nose, eyes and wattle to the center of the plate to give the turkey life.
- Add any other embellishments you see fit and display it proudly for ALL to see!
- Don’t forget to share pictures with us on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts
- And that’s it! Easy right? A nice way to dress it up {or add some flair} is do adult & child handprints cutouts together or use decorated scrapbook paper instead of plain cardstock. Also glitter is always nice 😉
