Paper Plate Baker Craft Idea

Baker Craft For Story Time

Eric Carle is another best seller children’s book author that a lot of people recognize these days {probably the most famous being for The Very Hungry Caterpillar} His collage illustrations in his books have always drawn me in and I just love the stories inside of them as well. They are probably my favorite to read with little man.

On that note, you will be seeing a few more kid crafts in the near future on Glued To My Crafts, that are inspired by his beautiful books. Today I just so happen to be focusing on this paper plate baker craft that goes along perfectly with the book Walter Baker.

The baker themed book starts off with a dilemma but ends with a twist {literally!} Fortunately for you – there are no dilemmas or twists to today’s kid friendly craft. Just simple craft time that is fun for all ages and really inexpensive too!

So what are you waiting for? Grab those craft supplies and get to work asap! Then grab the book afterwards {maybe a pretzel or two} and celebrate together in style! I just know that our baker craft idea and the Eric Carle book MIXED together, will bring you tons of fun in your home!

Happy crafting my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your paper plate and tissue paper baker with us on our Facebook page! #gluedtomycrafts

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Skin Tone Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Hat Printable –  on our landing page
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Pencil

Directions:

  • First things first – paint your large paper plate completely. Simply squirt the paint in the center and then move it around with the paint brush.
  • When done painting the paper plate, set it aside to let it dry completely.
  • Next up – grab the chef hat printable.
  • Trim it out and discard excess paper. Set aside.
  • Now grab your black cardstock paper and pencil.
  • Trace your child’s hand {twice} on the black paper and trim them both out with scissors. This is his mustache.
  • Out of the remaining cardstock paper, go ahead and cut out a large oval shape for his nose.
  • To finish off the paper plate baker craft – simply glue/staple the cardstock paper pieces in their designated spots on the painted plate.
  • Follow that up with the googly eyes.
  • At this point in time you can display as is or add other embellishments that you see fit!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
