Wooden Spoon Caterpillar Craft Idea

Wooden Spoon & Craft Stick Caterpillar

This fun activity provides a great opportunity to teach children all about caterpillars while also encouraging them to get creative.

Not only is it a great way to unleash your child’s imagination, but it also provides an opportunity for them to develop their fine motor skills.

With just a few simple materials, you can transform an ordinary wooden spoon into a colorful and whimsical caterpillar that your kids will be proud to display.

Wooden Spoon & Craft Stick Caterpillar

This easy green and red bug craft idea for kids is perfect for any occasion! Your little ones will love making these colorful caterpillars using wooden spoons and craft sticks.

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden Craft Spoons
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • Thick White Glue {or a hot glue gun}
  • Red Craft Paint
  • Green Craft Paint
  • Small Paint Brushes
  • Small Wiggle Eyes
  • Tan Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First have children paint their wooden spoon completely red and their TEN mini popsicle sticks green.
  • Repeat for each caterpillar you want to make.
  • Set aside.
  • Now grab your glue and newly painted pieces.
  • Make a line of glue on the handle and place your mini popsicle sticks in a line {like a fence} on top, until the handle is completely covered.
  • Finish off your Wooden Spoon Caterpillar craft by gluing on wiggle eyes and cardstock antennas to the back of the decorated piece.
  • Then carefully place in an undisturbed area to let it dry completely before displaying/playing with proudly!
