Dr Seuss Inspired - Paper Plate Fox {Kid Craft}

Orange Fox Paper Plate Craft

Although a lot of people are focused on Valentine’s Day this week – I’m already thinking about Dr. Seuss’ birthday that is coming up the beginning of March. Yes, that may seem far away – but it’s never too early to start thinking about craft projects to celebrate. Am I right?! 😉

One of my favorite books from the Dr. Seuss collection is Fox In Socks. It’s a great beginner’s book with some fun tongue twisters inside. It’s meant to be read out loud and get those giggles out. My son always looks at me funny for a second as I read it – then busts out with laughs like no other! He really is silly!

With today’s Paper Plate Fox craft post – I hope it inspires you to sit down with your child for some reading and craft time afterwards. It’s so easy – you really have no excuse not to! {No really – make some time today to get it done!} Then when you do complete the paper plate orange fox craft {because you will – wink wink!} I highly encourage you to come share pictures on our Facebook page to see!

So enough chit chat from me. Below is what you need to make and how you will pull together your own Dr. Seuss Inspired Easy Fox Craft. Happy crafting, my dear friends!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Orange Tissue Paper
  • White School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Two Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First trim down your paper plate so it looks like a triangle/fox’s face.
  • Next – cut up you orange tissue paper into small 2×2 squares. You need about a handful of squares.
  • Now slather some school glue all over the paper plate and ask your child to lay the tissue paper down – making sure to completely cover the paper plate.
  • While they are covering their paper plate with tissue paper – cut out two triangles out of the orange cardstock and a circle out of the black. This will be the fox’s ears & nose.
  • To finish the Tissue Paper and Paper Plate Fox craft, glue the eyes on and staple the ears to the paper plate.
  • Then staple on the brown circle where the nose would be and you have a fox friend!
  • Display proudly for ALL to see!

Don’t let the crafty fun end here! We have more ideas for you!

This is an easy tissue paper fox craft, that can be done on a very simple craft budget. If you don’t have orange tissue paper, orange cardstock paper works well. Don’t have that either – have your child color in their paper plate with orange markers or crayons.

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
