For parents looking for a fun and easy craft to do with their kids, I have an adorable idea using just a few simple materials that is sure to get little hands engaged!

Wooden Spoon Fox Puppet - Kid Craft Idea

Foxes are such sneaky little animals that are playful and inquisitive, making them a perfect theme for a kids project.

In this post, I will share step-by-step instructions for how to turn an ordinary wooden spoon into a charming fox friend that children are sure to love pretending with for hours to come.

With flashes of orange, black and white, this easy craft brings the magic of a fox right into your home.

Read on for details on the few supplies you’ll need and how to transform a basic materials into a playful puppet-style toy that both parents and kids can enjoy together!

Looking for a fun craft project to do with your kids? This wooden spoon fox puppet is perfect for an afternoon stuck indoors!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden Craft Spoons – 1 per puppet
  • Choice of Color Craft Paint
  • White Craft Paint
  • Black Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Paint Brushes
  • Cardstock Paper {to match your fox}
  • School Glue
  • Scissors

Directions:

  • First things first – squirt your craft paint colors on the paper plate.
  • Next have children paint their wooden spoon completely orange, red or brown {or any color they like!}
  • Once done with that step, it’s time to paint on the white sideburns and black dotted nose & eyes.
  • When done painting, set aside the paint covered spoon to let it dry a bit.
  • Next up – cutting up the paper. Go ahead and grab your cardstock paper & scissors.
  • Cut out two triangle ears and a long fluffy tail for the fox from the matching cardstock paper.
  • Use some remaining white paint on your paper plate to give the tail some dimension.
  • To finish off the Wood Spoon Fox Puppet – simply glue the paper pieces in place on the painted spoon.
  • Then, if you like, add other embellishments you see fit {like glitter, rhinestones etc.}
  • To display, you can add magnets to the back or hot glue some string for easy hanging!
