This easy kids craft is perfect for spring! Have your child create a bunch of colorful butterflies using wooden spoons and paint.

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden Craft Spoons – 1 per craft
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Cardstock or Scrapbook Paper
  • School Glue
  • Pencil or Marker
  • Scissors
  • Small Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • Once done, set them all aside to let them dry completely.
  • While those are drying, have children trace/cut out their handprint wings for the butterflies {two per butterfly} as well as some antennas from the cardstock paper.
  • To finish off the Wooden Spoon Butterflies – simply glue the handprint cutouts to the back of the wooden spoon to create wings, as well as gluing on the antennas & wiggle eyes.
  • Then add other embellishments you see fit {like glitter, rhinestones etc.} to finish it off and really give them some flair!
  • To display, you can add magnets to the back or hot glue some string for easy hanging!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
