Hi there – it’s Stacey from Glued To My Crafts and slithering by with another way to turn ordinary wood craft spoons into one-of-a-kind friends!

Then use your newly created Wooden Spoon Snakes as party decor, garden decorations OR have a fun afternoon full of puppet play with a whole collection of them!

Wooden Spoon Snakes - Slithering Good Kid Craft Idea

Do you have some old wooden spoons lying around? Why not turn them into adorable snake puppets with this easy kids craft tutorial!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden Craft Spoons
  • Craft Paint
  • Small Paint Brushes
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Small Wiggle Eyes
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First have children paint their spoons however they like. Snakes come in all colors so let your child go wild on this one!
  • At this point in time, if desired – add some glitter and school glue on the spine!
  • Once done decorating the spoon, set it aside to let it dry completely.
  • Next up – cut out some long tongues from the red cardstock {one per snake.}
  • To finish off the Wooden Spoon Snake – simply glue the cardstock paper pieces in place and add the wiggle eyes so they can see.
  • Then add other embellishments you see fit {like glitter, rhinestones etc.}
  • To display, you can add magnets to the back or hot glue some string for easy hanging!

Here’s your checklist of supplies to bring this craft to life:

  • 1 Wooden Craft Spoon
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Loose Craft Glitter
