Paper Plate & Polka Dot Snake – Kid Craft Idea
Hi my fellow crafters! Welcome to Glued To My Crafts. I’m so excited you are here with us right now!
Today I’m sharing this SUPER easy Polka Dot Snake craft for kids to make from a large paper plate. recycled wine cork and craft paint.
We did this snaked themed craft a few days ago in honor of Valentine’s Day. But you can change up the colors and do it all year long to match the theme of the year, day, month etc. Please don’t feel limited by what “we” did!
I’m not a big fan of real life snakes but this paper and paint snake is always welcome in our home. This simple art project is great for younger kids to get out their creativity out AND it’s also makes for some awesome handmade decorations if you attach a piece of string & hang it from the ceiling!
Enough small chit chat from me – find all the crafty details that you need to know in the full tutorial below. I bet you have all the materials already in your home, so no excuses NOT to recreate it today!
Happy crafting, my dear friends! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your paper plate snake creations on our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram to see them SLITHER on the screen! I can’t wait to see what you create! #gluedtomycrafts

Here is what we used to make our paper plate polka dot snake:
Paper Plate Polka Dot Snake Craft Supplies:
* Large Paper Plate – one per snake craft
* Wine Corks {or anything that will stamp a circle on the plate}
* Various colors of paint
* Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
* Construction Paper
* Heart Paper Craft Punch
* Hand-Held Office Stapler
* Black Sharpie Marker
Directions:
1. First have your child cover their paper plate in a polka dot design. This is done by dipping the wine corks in the paint, then on the paper plate. Anything goes so encourage them! Once it’s completely covered – set aside to let it dry completely.
2. Once dry, it’s time to make the snake come to life. Flip over the paper plate. Starting from the center, draw a spiral design. This will be cut, so don’t overlap any lines.
3. Next, cut the line you just drew with scissors. The snake will start to get it’s shape.
4. Add embellishments like eyes and a tongue to really give the snake life. To hang, hole punch a hole in the head and string some ribbon through.
