If you are looking to do a simple craft with your toddler to recreate in honor of spring season, I have the perfect craft for you today!
I call it “Pom Pom Polka Dot Eggs” and it’s simply allowing your child’s imagination to go wild & paint their egg cutouts however they want with a “stamp” you make with two simple materials!
Pom Pom Painted Easter Egg
The fun part of this craft is that you don’t need any rules or expectations! Just let children paint {maybe even let them make a mess} and admire the beautiful polka dot creations they come up with. I’ve even included a FREE PRINTABLE EGG SHAPE TEMPLATE to get you started with ease so there is really no excuse!
Other than using our printable, we made “paint brushes” out of wood clothespins & craft pom poms to get that great “paint marbled look” effect. YOU however, can provide and/or use whatever you have on hand. Grab the glitter, glue and fun paint colors & let your preschooler decorate their blank egg print out however THEY like!
Ready to make it happen? Find all the details and free printable in the full tutorial below! I just know you are going to EGG-CITED to recreate it with your young child this month! Happy crafting, my friends!

Directions:
- First, if you haven’t already, go ahead and download the FREE EASTER EGG TEMPLATE listed in the supply list above.
- Print it out on your printer, on thick white cardstock paper. Print one egg per craft you want to make.
- For the pom pom paint brushes – pinch open the clothespin and insert the pom pom. Let it close on the pom pom so it doesn’t move.
- Now place some craft paint on a paper plate.
- Have your child dip their pom pom paintbrush into the paint – then on the egg cutout. You want them to layer on different colors.
- Repeat until completely the egg is covered in polka dots.
- When children are done painting, they can add sequins, craft glue or even stickers on top of the wet paint.
- Let dry completely before displaying.
- Discard pom poms and rinse off clothespins with water.
- If desired – use scissors to cut out the decorated Easter egg shape and display that way!
