The GNOME obsession continues on Glued To My Crafts with our latest paper plate Christmas ornament gnome craft idea!

This time we are taking that adorable handprint beard cutout and attaching it to a inexpensive paper plate that you decorate to look like a Christmas ornament, that in turn will look like the gnome’s body. I swear it sounds more complicated than it actually is!

So on that note, it’s time to start getting on our craft on! Keep scrolling for all the details so you and your child can recreate this unique paper plate Christmas gnome craft today! Paper Plate Ornament Gnome

It’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit! These adorable paper plate gnomes are perfect for kids of all ages.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate – 1 per craft
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • White School Glue/Glitter Glue
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Tan Cardstock Paper
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Basic Paper Craft Scissors
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler
  • Twine or Ribbon

Directions:

  • First things first – decorate your paper plate however you like. Start off by covering it with craft paint and then adding some glitter/glitter glue on top.
  • When done decorating the paper plate, set it aside to let it dry completely.
  • Next up – the paper elements that will bring the gnome ornament to life. Go ahead and grab your paper pieces, pencil & the scissors.
  • Out of the white cardstock paper, trace your child’s hand for the beard. Trim it out.
  • Out of the kraft colored cardstock paper, cut out a large oval nose.
  • Last, out of the scrapbook paper, cut out a large triangle hat for your gnome.
  • Now we are heading to the final steps! Once the decorated paper plate is completely dry, go ahead and staple the handprint cutout to it.
  • Follow that up with the nose and hat piece on top.
  • Finally, cut off a small piece of twine or ribbon. loop it with your fingers and staple it to the hat cutout to finalize the “ornament” look of it all.
  • Go ahead and add any other embellishments you see fit and display your gnome paper plate ornament proudly for all to see!

If you like – your child can add other personalized embellishments like stickers, sequins, buttons etc. Really have them make it into their own craft!
