Inspired by the “wood slice” craze going on right now – today I’m sharing this Wood Slice Reindeer Ornament kid craft idea!!!

Wood slices are fairly easy to find right now {I found mine in the wood section of Hobby Lobby} and they are the absolute PERFECT shape to make some red-nosed friend ornaments with!

So let’s not delay the craftiness! Find the full tutorial below and make a whole HERD of them with your crafty child today! Then use them as Christmas decor or even tie them to your holiday presents as creative gift tags! Whatever you do decide to do with your finished reindeer wood pieces – I hope you have fun doing it.

Wood Slice Reindeer Ornament

Get the kids involved in making these adorable reindeer this year! This is a great Christmas kids craft idea that is super easy and can be used for puppet play, party decor or even as ornaments on the tree.

Craft Supplies:

Small Wood Slice Pieces
Gold Pipe Cleaners
Small Wiggle Eyes
Small Red Pom Poms
Wood Glue {or hot glue gun}
Ribbon/Twine
Scissors

Directions:

First things first – take ONE pipe cleaner and bend it in half for the reindeer antlers.
Hot glue the pipe cleaner piece to the BACK of your wood slice.
Next up – the wiggle eyes and red pom pom nose. Hot glue both to the FRONT of your wood slice.
To finish off the reindeer ornaments, cut off a small piece of twine and hot glue it to the back for easy hanging.
Set aside to let it dry completely.
Repeat for each piece you want to make today.
Then add to the holiday tree or place on your presents for a nice surprise!
