Scoop Stick Reindeer Puppets - Kid Craft

As we turn the corner into December, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is starting to ramp up.

The kids are getting excited for Christmas, snow days, eggnog and all their favorite seasonal traditions. For many families, part of the magic of December involves crafting fun Christmas creations together.

This year, I’ve come up with an easy and creative scoop stick reindeer craft that even little hands can help with. Using just a few household items, you and your kids can quickly put together these cute reindeer decorations with red pom pom noses.

These ice cream scoop reindeers make for a festive addition to your mantel, tree or gift while sparking imaginations about Rudolph and his pals in the snow.

Let me show you how simple it is to make these charming reindeer crafts perfect for getting everyone in a cozy, winter wonderland mood this December!

Scoop Stick Reindeer Puppets - Kid Craft

These adorable reindeer puppets are easy to make and perfect for the Christmas season!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wood Scoop Sticks
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Pencil
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Small Red Pom Poms

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your pencil, cardstock paper and craft scissors.
  • Trace one of your child’s hands on the brown paper {one handprint per popsicle stick}
  • Go ahead and trim it out with the scissors.
  • Follow that up by cutting straight down the center to make two pieces. These are the reindeer’s antlers.
  • Set them both aside for now.
  • Next grab your paper plate, paint brushes and craft paints.
  • Squirt all the craft paints on the paper plate.
  • Paint the popsicle scoop stick completely brown.
  • Follow that up by painting on small, dotted white & black eyes, as well.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Once done drying, glue on the red pom pom for the nose, as well as gluing on the antlers to the back of the painted ice cream scoop stick.
  • To make into an ornament, just glue some string to the back or hole a punch a hole in the antler for string to go through.
  • Then display your wooden scoop stick reindeer puppet proudly for all to see!

Here’s your checklist of supplies to bring this craft to life:

  • 1 Wood Scoop Stick
  • Craft Paint
  • Cardstock Paper
  • 1 Small Pom Poms
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Small Paint Brushes
  • Pencil or Marker
  • School Glue
  • Scissors

Prepare your creative haven by laying down a protective cover before the crafting magic begins!
