Chalk Art Owl Craft

Our brightly colored, first seen here chalk art owl art project is ANOTHER super easy and inexpensive kids craft DIY to pull together on the fly! We are talking minimal steps and very little supplies for you to wrangle up today.

Craft Supplies:

  • OWL Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Orange Crayon or Coloring Pencil
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Paper Scallop Paper Punch
  • Sidewalk Chalk
  • Baby Wipes
  • Adhesive

Directions:

  • First things first – grab our free printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock. One print will make TWO chalk art owl crafts. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the various shapes on it. The nose and feet will be orange, while the eyes will stay blank in color.
  • When done coloring, trim out ONE SET of each paper piece and set them aside till later.
  • Save the remaining paper so you can repeat this craft later.
  • Now grab your choice of color in cardstock and the paper scallop punch.
  • Punch out TWO scallop shapes for the owl’s eyes.
  • Now grab a single sheet of black cardstock and your various pieces of chalk.
  • Go ahead and draw/color in the owl’s BELLY in the center of the paper with the sidewalk chalk {see our image for example – you will do several strokes to make a large oval shape in the center of the paper.}
  • Add as much chalk as you like. You want it to be nice and “fluffy” though.
  • Once you have the belly/body in place, go ahead and draw two pointy ears towards the top of your drawing.
  • Use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.
  • When done with the chalk, go ahead and grab your owl cutouts from earlier & your glue stick.
  • Glue all the pieces in their designated spots, on chalk art design you just made.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your chalk owl paper piece proudly for all to see!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures to share with us afterwards as well!
