Directions:

  • First things first – download our free jellyfish body printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Next, go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print the file on a single sheet of white cardstock. One print makes ONE jellyfish craft. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use only please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the body of the jellyfish however you like. You can use crayons, markers, coloring pencils – whatever!
  • When done coloring in the oval shape, use the scissors to trim it out.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab a single sheet of black cardstock and your glue stick.
  • Go ahead and glue the jellyfish body cutout ANYWHERE on the black cardstock but make sure to leave some room underneath it, so you can make your tentacles.
  • Now grab your chalk and make several “squiggle” lines going outward from the jellyfish’s body. Add as many lines and colors that you like.
  • Use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.
  • When done with the chalk, add any other embellishments you see fit {maybe some glitter or ocean themed stickers!}
  • Then display your chalk art jellyfish paper piece proudly for all to see!

Customize It:

  • Don’t feel limited by using black construction paper either. Experiment with different colors and types of paper {like some shades of blue!} to see what really makes the “chalk drawn” tentacles really POP from the design.
  • On that note, did you know you can dip your chalk in water to make the colors more vibrant on your paper? Yup! Just set a small dish with tap water on the table, dip the chalk in it for a few seconds and then draw on the paper the same way as before. Repeat, over and over, again and let the construction paper dry completely before adhering the jellyfish to the center.
  • Don’t have a printer? No worries my friends! Just hand-draw and cut out a simple oval/circle shape from construction paper, instead!
