Terra Cotta Pot Painted Love Bug Craft

Hi friends! Welcome to our website. With that out of the way, today I’m challenging YOU to transform ordinary terra cotta pots into awesome “Love Bug” decor within minutes!

Whether you make this creative craft with your child this upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday OR you rather keep it as an adult-only craft {psst – I won’t tell!} this DIY activity is super easy, really inexpensive and sure to be a crowd pleaser too!

PLUS it makes for a great simple keepsake decor piece that you can be pulled out, year after year!!!

So what are you waiting for? Lets grab those craft supplies and get to work! Remember you can do this love bug craft in ANY size terra cotta pot – so make what fits for you. Just keep in mind the size of those handprints wings!

Terra Cotta Pot Love Bug - Kid Craft Idea For Valentine's Day Terra Cotta Pot Love Bug - Kid Craft Idea For Valentine's Day

This Valentine themed DIY is super easy, really inexpensive & sure to be a crowd pleaser too! Check out the tutorial below!

Craft Supplies:

  • Terra Cotta Pots
  • Pink Craft Paint
  • Large Foam Paint Brush
  • Large Paper Plate
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Glue Stick
  • Black Sharpie Marker
  • Scissors
  • Heart Paper Punch or Valentine Stickers
  • Pipe Cleaner
  • Medium Sized Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First turn your terra cotta pot upside down on a paper plate.
  • Have your child paint their pot completely pink {or however they like!}
  • When done painting, set it aside to let it dry completely.
  • While the paint is drying, trace your child’s hands on the cardstock paper.
  • Trim out the two handprint designs.
  • Add some cardstock hearts or stickers on them. These are now the Love Bug’s wings.
  • Next get your glue gun hot and ready.
  • Bend your pipe cleaner in half and glue it, along with some wiggle eyes and your handprint wings onto the terra cotta pot.
  • Finish off with drawn on smile and any other embellishments if you like.
  • Then display your terra cotta pot love bug craft piece proudly for all to see!
