Painted Handprint Fabric Flower Potholders

I personally LOVE creating keepsakes with my Lil Man’s handprints. If you have been a long time follower of mine, you may have seen so many examples already on our Glued To My Crafts website already – several of which are great gift ideas as well!

There is just something about them that makes me melt inside, every time I look at those tiny handprints captured in time.

They are quite honestly the BEST crafts we do in our home these days. Although… it really is a true sign and a sad reminder how fast the times are going. Us mothers may complain about the sticky handprints on the walls & windows now but once they are gone forever, we will miss them so much. {Can you relate?}

Well enough sadness my friends… why not capture the “moment” right now and seal it forever in time, with today’s handprint art potholder craft idea that I’m sharing with you below?

It only takes a few simple supplies {one of which I picked up at my local Dollar Tree} and an hour of your time! If you plan to gift it, you could even write “thanks for growing with me” in the card. Perfect to gift to mama, grandma or even a caretaker.

On that note, check out the FULL tutorial and supply list for this DIY flower potholder idea below!!!

Happy crafting, my friends!!! Don’t forget to share pictures of your child’s finished potholders with handprints flowers on them, with us by tagging us on Instagram! I can’t wait to see what colors you choose for the handprint flower aspect! #gluedtomycrafts

Mother's Day Gift Idea - Painted Potholders

With a little paint and enthusiasm, you and your child can transform ordinary potholders into colorful and eye-catching masterpieces that brighten up anyone’s kitchen space.

Craft Supplies:

  • Cloth Pot Holders
  • Fabric Paint
  • Foam Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes

Directions:

  • First squirt your fabric paint on a paper plate.
  • Using the foam brush, paint the palm of your child’s hand {whatever color you like} and press it down, right in the center of the potholder. Be sure to wiggle each finger so the paint really transfers onto the cloth.
  • Now lift up the hand to reveal the design. Use baby wipes to remove the excess paint.
  • If you would like to do a flower {like I did} paint a simple lined flower stem {or flower pot} right below the tiny handprint.
  • Then add other embellishments if you like to give it that custom look.
  • Let your handprint potholder dry completely before using or gifting.
  • Enjoy for years to come – I highly recommend HAND-WASHING these 🙂
  • Change it up – this craft can also be done with baby footprints as well!
