Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Red/Pink Tissue Paper
  • Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Valentine’s Day Stickers

Directions:

  • First cut your large paper plate in half. This will give you TWO love bug cars. Grab ONE of the paper plate halves to work with first.
  • Go ahead and cut off a small piece of the paper plate half to give a more defined look for the hood, as well as the cab of the car.
  • Discard the small piece of paper plate you just cut off.
  • Now take your tissue paper and cut it into small squares.
  • Take your paper plate half and put a good amount of glue all over them.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until they are completely covered.
  • When they are done with that, set aside to let them dry completely while you trim out the other car features from your cardstock {think tires, windows, lights etc}
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Valentine’s Day Car kid craft – simply staple the finished cardstock pieces in their designated spots.
  • If desired, use a sharpie marker to draw a person sitting in the seat of the car {the heart stickers are from Target!}
  • Then have children add other embellishments {like hearts to tie in the LOVE BUG theme} to really make it their own!
  • Now display proudly for all to see!

Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
