Clothespin Love Bug Butterfly Craft Idea

These easy and adorable love bug butterflies are perfect for kids to make this Valentine’s day! They’re simple to make and fun to decorate with too!

Not only is this Clothespin Love Bug Butterfly craft super kid friendly for children of ALL ages but it’s also makes for some awesome pretend play pieces as well. Pair it with some other Valentine’s Day themed crafts or story books and you are sure to have a lot of fun this season.

Clothespin Love Bug Butterfly Craft Idea

These cute little Valentine’s Day bugs will brighten up your day, with their cheerful colors and delightful smiles.

Craft Supplies:

  • Flat Wooden Clothespins
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Coloring Utensils
  • Heart Printable – on our landing page
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Thick Tacky Glue or Hot Glue Gun
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First squirt some craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Paint one side of your clothespin {one per love bug} completely.
  • Go ahead and also add two small black eyes with a fine tip brush.
  • When done painting, set it aside to allow it to dry completely.
  • Next grab your heart printout and choice of coloring material.
  • Color in TWO heart designs and trim them out.
  • Repeat for each love bug you are making.
  • Now grab another smaller piece of cardstock paper and cut out some antennas for your butterfly.
  • To finish off the clothespin love bug craft– glue together your heart cutouts {in a wing formation} and pinch it in between the painted clothespin. Go ahead and also glue on the antennas.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then once you are done decorating, set it all aside to let it dry completely before playing and/or displaying proudly!!!
