Scarecrow Cards Made With A Potato Stamp
Sometimes it’s the most unexpected material that makes for the best craft supply! Am I right?! That’s pretty much become the Glued To My Crafts motto, as of late!
Take for example our latest and greatest tutorial. I titled it Potato Stamped Scarecrow Cards and it’s just that! Cards made from using a raw potato as a stamp!
Not only is this a kid friendly craft idea that is great to celebrate fall with BUT it’s also the perfect excuse to get the kids crafty while you make dinner that night. Plus they can gift their custom and one-of-a-kind handmade pieces to the special people in their life, throughout the autumn season!
To start, just save a potato from hitting the boiling water and have kids set up shop on the kitchen table. You won’t believe how simple and inexpensive it is!!
So what are you waiting for? “Scare” up this fall favorite today and show it off on my Facebook page for everyone to see!
Happy crafting my friends! I can’t wait to see pictures of your child’s beautiful scarecrow cards! #gluedtomycrafts

PAIR YOUR CARDS WITH —> Potato Stamped Reindeer Card
Directions:
- First things first – if you haven’t made your card yet, go ahead and do that. I made mine a basic square shape but yours can be any shape or size you like!
- Go ahead and also cut out a piece of white cardstock, that will fit to the front of your card. This is where we will be making our stamped scarecrow design on.
- Secure the white cardstock piece to the front of the card with a glue stick.
- Now grab your potato and knife.
- Cut your potato in half. You only need ONE potato half for your craft. This is your stamp for the scarecrow’s head.
- Squirt some brown craft paint on your paper plate.
- Rub your potato half in the brown paint, until it’s completely covered.
- Next take the potato half and stamp it in the center of the white cardstock.
- Lift up the potato half and set it on the paper plate.
- Now squirt the remaining craft paint on the paper plate and grab a small paint brush.
- Draw on some scarecrow facial features on the stamped design with the paint brush.
- When done decorating it, set it aside the card to allow it to dry completely.
- Now grab all your other remaining paper pieces and scissors.
- Cut out a simple hat shape and a rectangle piece for the center, to give it some dimension.
- When the stamped design from earlier is dry enough, go ahead and grab it, along with the glue stick.
- Secure the paper pieces to the stamped design.
- To finish off the potato stamped scarecrow card, use the Sharpie marker to write a clever message like “Happy Fall” to the front of the card, as well as anything else you like inside.
- Add any other embellishments you see fit, before gifting away your stamped potato scarecrow card proudly!
- Discard the used potato afterwards {please do not attempt to eat it afterwards.}
