This weekend, make a trip to your nearby farmer’s market and pick up a couple of large potatoes. With them, you can recreate these delightful Potato Stamped Pumpkin Cards together with your child.
It’s a fantastic way to spend a fall day as a family. And once you’re back home, the fun can continue at the kitchen table.
Potato Stamping Pumpkins On Paper
Like I’ve mentioned in the past on Glued To My Crafts, sometimes it’s the most unexpected material that makes for the best craft supply. I have in-cooperated kitchen sponges, manicure toe separators and even birthday candles into our craft tutorials. I really do like to think outside the box when it comes to my grand ideas!
Take for example our latest and greatest tutorial for the fall and Halloween season. I titled it Potato Stamped Halloween Cards and it’s just that! Cards made from using a raw potato as a stamp!
Not only is this a kid friendly craft idea that is great to celebrate the autumn season with BUT it’s also the perfect excuse to get the kids crafty while you make dinner that night. Plus they can gift their custom and one-of-a-kind handmade pieces to the special people in their life, throughout the month!
To start, just save a potato from hitting the boiling water and have kids set up shop on the kitchen table. You won’t believe how simple and inexpensive it is to make these pumpkin stamps!!
So what are you waiting for? “Scare” up this jack-o-lantern themed favorite today and show it off on my Facebook page for everyone to see!
Happy crafting my friends! I can’t wait to see pictures of your child’s beautiful pumpkin jack-o-lantern cards! #gluedtomycrafts

Directions:
- First things first – if you haven’t made your cardstock card yet, go ahead and do that. I made mine a basic square shape but yours can be any shape or size you like!
- Go ahead and also cut out a piece of white cardstock, that will fit to the front of your card. This is where we will be making our stamped pumpkin design on.
- Secure the white cardstock piece to the front of the card with a glue stick.
- Now grab your large, raw potato and knife.
- Cut your potato in half. You only need ONE potato half for your craft. This is your new stamp for the pumpkin.
- Squirt some orange craft paint on your paper plate.
- Take the potato “stamp” and rub it in the orange craft paint, until it’s completely covered.
- Now take it and stamp it in the center of your card you made earlier.
- Lift up your potato from the paper and lay it back down on the paper plate.
- Set aside to the card to allow the paint to dry completely.
- Repeat the above steps for each card.
- To finish off the potato stamped pumpkin card, use the Sharpie marker to draw on jack-o-lantern/pumpkin features. Think triangles, squiggles and a stem for the top.
- Follow that up by writing “Happy Halloween” or “Happy Fall” around the pumpkin design, as well as writing anything you like inside.
- Add any other embellishments you see fit, before gifting away your stamped jack-o-lantern card proudly!
- Discard the used potato afterwards {please do not attempt to eat it afterwards.}
- Don’t forget to share pictures with us on your social media sites! We can’t wait to see your Halloween potato prints in action! #gluedtomycrafts
