Paper Plate Gray Mouse Craft
Hi friends! We have been sharing a TON of ideas on Glued To My Crafts that go along with our favorite children’s books and today we are continuing on with the fun theme, with yet another EASY kid craft that goes along perfectly with the book Frederick by Leo Lionni.
This book has great illustrations, as well as a beautiful story about the power and the value of imagination. It was one of my personal favorites growing up and I’m so glad I have recently added it to my son’s ever-growing book collection. Paired with our easy Paper Plate Mouse art project tutorial, I have to say this set is slowly becoming my favorite craft to date!
So there is no need to “scream” because this paper plate and tissue paper mouse craft is totally cute, harmless and completely customizable so the kids can really let their imagination go wild with it. Find the complete step-by-step tutorial below and get straight to work.
Don’t forget to ALSO grab the book to read in celebration of this adorable creation! Happy crafting my friends!

This easy craft idea for kids is perfect for a mouse lover! All you need is some paper plates, tissue paper, and a few other supplies.
Craft Supplies:
- Large Paper Plate
- Gray Tissue Paper
- Gray Cardstock Paper
- Black Cardstock Paper
- School Glue
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Large Wiggle Eyes
Directions:
- First cut your gray colored tissue paper into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills}
- Next up – take your large paper plate and cut it in half. Straight up the center to make it into TWO equal pieces.
- Put a good amount of glue all over one paper plate half {reserve the other half for a future craft such as our paper plate cars tutorial}
- Now have children place the gray tissue paper on top of the glue, until it’s completely covered.
- While they are working on that, cut out the mouse’s facial features from the cardstock. Think tail, nose, whiskers, ears etc.
- To finish off the Paper Plate Mouse kid craft – simply staple/glue the cardstock pieces to the paper plate, add the wiggle eye and then display it proudly for all to see!
- Don’t forget to share pictures with us when you are done so we can see your hard work! #gluedtomycrafts
