Potato Stamped Mouse Card - Kid Craft Idea

These gray mice cards are so much more special than store-bought greeting cards because each crafted card was made by hand – right at home!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Pre-Folded Cardstock Card
  • Glue Stick or Tape Runner Adhesive
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • 1 – Large Raw Potato
  • Knife – adult supervision ALWAYS!
  • Gray Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Small Wiggle Eyes
  • Pink Cardstock Paper
  • Thin-Tip Sharpie Marker

Directions:

  • First things first – if you haven’t made your cardstock card yet, go ahead and do that. I made mine a basic square shape but yours can be any shape or size you like!
  • Go ahead and also cut out a piece of white cardstock, that will fit to the front of your card. This is where we will be making our stamped mouse design on.
  • Secure the white cardstock piece to the front of the card with a glue stick.
  • Now grab your large, raw potato and knife.
  • Cut your potato in half. You only need ONE potato half for your craft. This is your new stamp for the mouse friend.
  • Squirt some gray craft paint on your paper plate.
  • Take the potato “stamp” and rub it in the gray craft paint, until it’s completely covered.
  • Now take it and stamp it in the center of your card you made earlier.
  • Lift up your potato from the paper and lay it back down on the paper plate.
  • Now use either a small paint brush with a little bit of gray paint {or your finger} to really quick add two small circular dots for the ears on the potato stamped design.
  • At this point in time, while the paint is still wet, go ahead & lay the wiggle eyes on top so they “dry” in place.
  • Also go ahead and cut out a small nose from the pink cardstock & lay them on top as well.
  • When done with these steps, go ahead and aside the card to allow the paint to dry completely.
  • Repeat the above steps for each card.
  • To finish off the potato stamped mouse card, use the Sharpie marker to draw on a squiggly tail coming from the stamped design.
  • Follow that up by writing “Have A Mice Day” around the mouse design, as well as writing anything you like inside.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit, before gifting away your stamped mouse card proudly!
  • Discard the used potato afterwards {please do not attempt to eat it afterwards.}
  • Don’t forget to share pictures with us on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts
