Popsicle Stick Firetruck - Super Easy Kid Craft Idea

Ready to get crafty? Create a cool firetruck with just some popsicle sticks and cardstock paper!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Red Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • School Glue
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your EIGHT jumbo popsicle sticks.
  • Lay four next to each other {like a fence} one by one, on a flat surface.
  • Now grab your other popsicle sticks and start gluing them the other direction.
  • Once all the popsicle sticks are glued together, set aside to let it all dry completely. Repeat for each firetruck you want to make today.
  • When the popsicle stick shape is dry enough, go ahead and squirt the red craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Have children use the foam paint brush to paint their popsicle stick piece completely red.
  • While they work on that, you can go ahead and cut out some wheels, a ladder & other firetruck features from the sheets of colored cardstock.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Firetruck, glue the cardstock pieces in place as well as any other embellishments you see fit {think rhinestones, glitter etc.}
  • Then display or play with proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
