Popsicle Stick Cars - Extra Speedy Kid Craft Idea

An easy and fun craft activity for kids of all ages, this is one project that won’t take long to make and your kiddos will love it.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • Small Circle Punch
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • White School Glue

Directions:

  • First things first – grab THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and TWO mini sized ones {this is per car you want to make today.}
  • Lay the three larger ones next to each other, one by one, on a flat surface.
  • Now grab your remaining other two popsicle sticks and glue them the other direction to create a fence {or a rectangle door shape if that makes better sense to you!}
  • Once all the popsicle sticks are glued together, set aside to let it all dry completely.
  • Repeat the gluing step for each car you want to make.
  • When the wood shape is dry enough, have children paint the front of their popsicle sticks however they like, while you cut out some wheels & other car features from the cardstock.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Cars, glue the cardstock pieces in place as well as any other embellishments you see fit {think rhinestones, glitter, paper flames etc.}
  • Then display or play with proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
