Looking for a fun and easy craft idea for kids? These paper plate race cars are perfect for any occasion!

Craft Supplies:

  • Paper Plates
  • Tissue Paper
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Stapler
  • School Glue
  • Glitter Glue
  • Race Car Stickers
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your paper plate and scissors.
  • Cut it in half, straight up the center to make TWO equal pieces. This will make two race car crafts.
  • Next cut a small section out of each paper plate, to give a more defined “car” look {please see my picture for example}
  • Now you are ready for paint! Have children cover their paper plate pieces with any color of tissue paper squares they like. This is where the customization part really comes into play!
  • While children are working on that, go ahead and grab your colored cardstock paper.
  • Cut out two wheels per car, as well a window, light and any other pieces you might like.
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Race Cars, glue/staple the cardstock pieces in place on the painted paper plate, as well as race numbers, stickers and glitter glue.
  • Then allow your race cars creations to dry completely before you display and/or show them off proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
